India Immersion Programme 2010

That day, when we arrive in India Kolkata airport, we were so hungry due to the timing of the flight, I still remember that Rajesh gave us a treat in a mall, pizza hut. We were all so fascinated by the price, this is all our first time to India and having food in the mall is our first in touch with India.

Sun Temple @ Bhubaneswar

I must say we enjoy ourself with the food, the language, the culture and the 100 over years heritage site like the Sun temple we went.

India Post Trip 2011

Like in NITRKL, I too have my family there, like Ankur Bhai, Keshav Bada bhai, Rahul Bhai, Pradeep Bhai, Abdullah Bhai, I really miss all of you. I wonder when will we meet again?

Girls' Hall Day

The moment I went in, everyone was saying 'Hi' to me, and goodness, I don't even know them

Hindi Movie @ Rourkela

This was taken on my latest trip to Rourkela for a two weeks holiday, I was going to catch 'Double Dhalmaal' with two friends however, the place was so full and we are reluctant to buy black ticket, so we drop the idea of watching the movie.

Power Cut in Rourkela

Putting friends and meeting brothers aside, the happiest moment in rourkela will be when the power is back, especially in the big room now, power cut means it's complete dark for me and with me, me, and me, it's abit scary yaar?

Inner Peace

It's so beautiful isn't it? the calmness from the still water, and the greenery all around it, it's a nice place to jog by in the morning. And most importantly, I can felt inner peace even by looking at the photo.

Bike stunt @ NITRKL

Bike stunt happens to be arrange within the timing we are here in Rourkela NIT. And I think the students actually were amazed by the stunts, but hot sun wasn't their favourites I guess. Even though of the sun, they still willing to stand under it, to catch the glimpse of the stunt and of course camera were clicking all the time.

Winter is here

As I alighted from the coach this morning, I felt alive once again, the cold wind breeze through my face just like a way of saying: The Winter is here.

Yes, the winter is here in India, it's really exciting and apart of me just remembered the feel I gotten when I was in china with my friends, when it was such cold weather with such cool environment.

9 hours of bus ride, I;m glad I have make it through without even once alighting from the coach to pee, not because I didn't want to, but because i'm stuck in between my seats. I wonder why people always want themselves to be in a comfortable mode while neglecting others' causing discomfort. Well, this is human nature I suppose.

I'm enjoying this every moment of cool breeze, without AC on, without fan on, without perspiring, and out of a sudden everyone is jogging on the street.

I love India

Current Update

It's been some time since I have update on what I have been up to. Like what I said, the Juniors have already left Bhubaneswar back to Singapore for like 2 weeks already and ever since I have been staying alone in the apartment at Patia, it's a place where it's difficult to access without any transportation. But for crazy people like me, I have been accessing the place by my own legs instead of an Auto.

Okay, here's what I been up to, I have been given two task currently, one is about the education in India, I know the full education in Singapore and Now, I have to find out what is in India, it's definitely different from Singapore.

I have just decide not to write anything yet, I will start writing when I'm back in Singapore, I cant seem to focus on finding and writing at the same time, so I guess I will focus on my writing of report when I'm back in college.

Now, I will start to interview and understand the system in India as much as possible. I would also like to work n the business part in India, will have to consult a friend on the information.

Another part of my work is to get to understand the employment in India, I have approach a few students for the information they have on hand to regards on employment in college and campus placement, me and the boss have come out with a list of question to ask the students and prof, for the prof part, I have not attend to it yet, currently in bbsr, I'm suppose to visit institute for interviews, but I haven't gotten any contacts from the boss yet, so I have no idea what to do. So currently I'm working on the education part. I don't wish to screw any of it, so i'm working real hard for it.

So I have set my own targets, so what I will have to do:

Research on Education system in India
Analyse the system
Compare it with Singapore education system
Pros and Cons
Research on Campus Placement
Employment in India
Interview with Students and Professors
Report on India Overseas Immersion Programme
Overall Feed back

Optional:
Research on business process in India
Business Survival guide

Missing all of you

Last day in Bhubaneswar for the Singapore students, they will be leaving at 4am in the morning. Well, we have been living together for the past 1 month, it's really hard to say I don't have feelings for them, it's really hard to let go. When I think of it, I remembered someone use to said: I have learn everything that I can, but still one thing I felt it hard to learn, it's learning to let go.

You know I'm not a guy with many word when comes to saying goodbye, which is why when my brother left bhubaneswar, I didn't want to send them, instead, I went to take a swim.

I was hesitating whether I should write this post, because there is so many things going right inside me, especially when your junior came to you and said: I don't miss India, but I miss you, I don't know why, but I do miss you. When your junior came to you and tell you: can I give you a hug? And you can see the tears rolling in their eyes.

I too, felt really sad that you guys are leaving, I too want to cry, but my crying doesn't make you guys stay neither does it make you guys feel better, which is why I hold on to it till you guys leave before I will do that. If my juniors have know me like my batch mate does, they will understand that I can cry for anything emotional. And right now at this very moment, I'm already missing them, deep down. Memories just keep flowing in my mind, photos of them shopping, resting, studying, eating, everything just came back to my mind all at one.

I thought they are a bunch of dull, null, difficult juniors but Loges was right, they are innocent and bunch of nice juniors which I start to cherish now. If I were to do this coordination all over again, I will, I will want to do it all over again. A mixed tinge of feeling that fill me right up, it's really difficult to cope with letting go.

You can really see them grow from this trip, I just hope they will stay positive, put down their comfort zone even when they are back in Singapore and just keep learning in the right way. Of course, stay independence and let other depends on you sometime like a group with flaws but strength that covers the flaws.

28 days just flies past, it seems like yesterday the juniors have just reach rourkela and I went to fetch them at the train station, it's like I just prepare the first meal for them, it's like I just allocate rooms to them, it's like we just started our chat in Room 15, it's like I bring the students to CWS, it's like I just order the cake for Tim and Fha's b'day, it's like they just started to be close with me, it's like I just open up to them, it's like, it's like so many other thing.

11.49pm now, 4 more hours to go and juniors are packing now, they will be leaving bbsr to kolkata and take their flight from there. I hereby wish them safe journey back home and take care, I will miss all of you.

Thank you

Sitting in the bus to Bhubaneswar, really makes me feel emotionally sad, the memories inside my heart just flow back into my head portraying images of what happen last year like a movie playing in slow images clips, and this movie is real life documentary.

I always expected myself to come back to India, not faking, but real expecting, and I did, came back, for the fourth time now. Now as I think back, how did I even survive by myself for the 2 months’ vacation in NITRKL? God knows.

I always tell myself, or maybe even friends who often ask, or even my maa that ask me so often why? Why India? You must be having some kind of affair, which is why you are going back so often, and ridiculously, she even went to ask a medium about my motive to India. I just have to say, even though Rourkela is not a nice place, but there’s so many nice people here which make the place nice, forget about the hostel food because it really sucks to core, I can’t imagine anyone could have taken that for 4 years, but they did, and for people like Ankur shresta bada bhai, he claim that it’s the food that made his body.

Managing a project aren’t a easy job, I must say. I just wanna tell the director of our school that, it’s not playing around either it’s easy, it’s really a tough job and I really do have a lot of responsibility on hand which I really take note of.

Everything seem so easy, it’s like a movie, you pay 10 bucks to watch it, and everything seem so nice and easy and expected but think about it, the behind the stage scenes, the NGs the actors and actress took, this are all can’t be seen. I can’t remember if last years’ team appreciate bablu’s coordinating, but I do, I know he really did a lot for us and I really do appreciate it.

And now it’s my turn, I tried my best to make this trip a memorable trip for my juniors. At first, thinking about it, when I first met them, it’s quite difficult or to say unpredictable what will happen, I don’t know them, everything to me has a bad impression, some looks proud to me, some look like people that are self-centered that don’t give a damn what you say to them. I swear, this are the first impression I got.

But, they prove me wrong, I suppose, after spending 20 days with them in Rourkela, they are a bunch of friendly juniors. Think about it, when you didn’t had dinner and they come with you with a cup of noodles, they share their gossips with you, they open up to you and became close friends, I mean all this wasn’t expected from my side. But I really appreciate them.

More sensible, I think.

But sometimes, like how my sir use to say: “You got to expect the unexpected.” Second day in Rourkela with juniors already make a hell out of me when I see one of my juniors got cut on his hand by a S-Hook in the gym, flesh were peel out and bone can be seen, this type of scene seem like one of the film: Final destination, perhaps India version. I kind of blame myself, why didn’t I warn them to be careful with the equipment, like in the movie: Paathshaala where the student got injuried due to mishandling of equipment. Guess, it was inevitable, accident do happen, we just have to grow out of it and learn from them. Because of the first incident, we became more aware of the situation, and more careful of the surrounding, I guess the student, did learn from it.

When I heard from Rajesh that the juniors appreciate what I did for them, it’s really heart-warming. It means that they respect me as their senior, understand what I been trying to do for them, and they know, it’s not easy to do it. And let me say, even Andy said that it’s hard for even him to manage.

He asks me how I do it? I told him, it’s tiring I know, but by the end of the day when they appreciate what you do, and they are safe and sound, you don’t feel anything but happy for them.

OCL Industry Visit

Industry visit to OCL with the 2nd batch Singapore students, as I reach there I have the feel of last year with the students, when we visited the whole factory for 2 hours before we ended up in the control room to look at how the IT System actually integrate with all the department. But this time round, it's totally different route we are taking, because of the rain, we ended up in the IT Control room department when we first reach the factory.

OCL is one of the biggest cement company in India where they supply cement all over rourkela and with their ISO 9001 Quality management they are the first most trusted brand in India.

The look in the control room, makes me feel so missing the first batch of students where we crowd around the system with curiosity and keep asking questions to gain more knowledge to finish our report. But this year round, I'm not so sure about the students but I guess because they didn't go through the factory first, so they don't know what to ask, what to expect and what to question.

As usual, i feel so bored during the industry visit, but sometimes, you just have to adapt with the environment, we just have to get use to it. So here's what I do, I look at the environment and focus on one part of the machine on what they doing, and out of a sudden, everything become interesting, I'm curious to know the material, the process, the product, so I make myself ask question. Like one of the bricks process, where they use 13.2kg of magnesium ore to form the brick, it is being press on by 16 tonnes of weight by the machine to form the brick, after which they will brush a layer of protective oil on the brick.

This type of brick actually are use by factory building because of their fire resistance. You must be asking doesn't normal brick already have normal resistance? But for normal brick wise, they can only hold up to 200 degree Celsius, but for this special design bricks, they can hold up to 18,000 degree Celsius.

Coming back for the second time, is not a waste of time, it's like another level of experiencing, maybe for the first time, I may miss something, and this time round, I did learn something out of what I have already went through.

ITOM Entrepreneur

Students are coming out with more new ideas to earn money, this is one part of the programme in ITOM whereby students are given RS 500 to spend on products and earn money out of that RS 500. The photo above shows students letting NITRKL'S Student to try on the Ipad with an extra charge.

And the traditional idea of selling drinks.

And i guess they enjoy themselves.

Fireworks @ NITRKL

What more can I say with the picture explains it all. Yes, the students are all enjoying the virgin light in fireworks, I can see that they are enjoying themselves, and I'm glad they are, if not my effort would have been a waste isn't it? That was a rocket fireworks the junior is playing with and it take 3 seconds after lighted to fly up the sky and burst into flame.

Flower pot firework, the flame can reach to the level of 2 men and when it's lighted, you can feel that you would die with no regret. But fireworks are all like infatuated love, they come very beautifully and they leave very quickly.

The spinning fireworks, it looks very nice when they spin, but I guess if they could have lasted longer, it would have been nicer.

I didn't had dinner because of the setting up of the fireworks, but what happen was, there was a junior that came to know I didn't had dinner, So he make a cup noodles for me, that's very heart warming. I mean, we don't rag juniors in Singapore, neither we are close with the juniors but such action is really nice, to be respected and being concerned. I guess even i'm learning from this bunch of juniors.

Lantern Festival in India

12 Sep,the night where Chang e' flown to the Moon unwillingly. The night that we, family, use to hang around the balcony with the full moon up on the sky, with tea and moon cake on the tables, with lanterns hanging around us, with family members sitting down, chatting away. If you have guess Mooncake festival you are right.

Without family around, but friends and brothers around us, we still celebrate this very own festival in our very own way.

Candles and Lantern were being brought to NITRKL by the Singapore students.

And not forgetting the bonding between the committee members and us with the lantern. Not everyone has a lantern, but everyone has a candle, and like what I said things can be improvise: Take a candle and Support Anna.

They told me they enjoy alot with the students, even though it's just carrying the lantern, walking around, chatting with each other, but I call it quality time spent.

First Bonding Session with the students from NITRKL and Singapore NP ICT.

Shopping Spree for the students

First shopping outing with the help of two NITRKL students: Tausif and Siddharth we were split into 3 groups with 9 students per group and I was leading one of the group.

Well, it's a big responsibility for me, I have to make sure they get what they want and they enjoy the shopping trip more than anyone. Right inside me, I'm telling myself I got to take them to places which they will like, but in my mind it was in a mess. What I did was tell myself calm down, you are Suraj Singh, you will do well.

After nearly 1 and a half hour of shopping, we went to Mokshaa at around 6.30pm, I know anything after 6pm and before 7pm, the restaurant will serve only Chinese food, so what I did was, I talked to the manager about them coming and I have the students check on the menu and order, so by 7pm they will serve us the food, and I guess it works just fine.

Timing was good and I guess they enjoy more than I do.

Freshers' Welcome

Fresher' welcome 2011 in NITRKL.

Like how Ms Kim Chia went on stage last year, Mr Fulu went up in representation of NP ICT. I must say he gave a wonderful speech, it was a last minute notice to him but still he is able to do it so well, thumbs up for him.

Compare to last year's fresher' welcome, this year's fresher welcome is really full of surprises. And I enjoy it alot more, I did not fall asleep and I expect more from the stage.

Well done to Sahil Pahuja, Ashesh Raghav and the others committee members, you guys rocks.

Bike Stunt 2011 @ NITRKL

10 Sep, Two days has past seen the singapore students have arrive in Rourkela. I must say the have already get use to the things here, even though there's some complains, but It's inevitable.

Students have their rehearsal for the fresher welcome, still remember the freshers' welcome last year, the sound system had alot of problem, music was so loud and I guess the only thing we enjoy was the dance and related to the sound system was a no no for us.

This time round, students from Singapore will perform on the stage on this very night where 300 freshers will be in the hall with others seniors which means at least 400 people will be in the hall.

They are as lucky as the NITRKL students, because this is the one and only last stunts available in the college.

From what I heard, the in charge approve this event because he thinks it's some kind of dance, and after he saw this dangerous stunt, he cancel and denied all other application of events, so guess this is it. Hope you guys have click the most memorable photo and keep it as a memories of India.

Singapore Students arrive in Rourkela

Finally students have arrive in Singapore and they seem like a great bunch of juniors where they are full of passion to explore and nobody can stop their strong passion.

Compare to the previous group, I guess this group has more initiative and they really bring themselves out of their own comfort zone to mingle among ourselves. Let's say, the Loft Pre India Planning was a success program and I recommend them to continue to do it.

Some accident happen during the campus orientation, it was some carelessness we did, we should have overlook it, it just remind me of the movie: Paathshaala , where they allow student to play with the musical instrument without supervision, the same case here. A student got cut on his finger, the cut was so deep that it start to bleed profusely, but i'm glad to say everything is under control and all the contingency plan do works.

Hope that student will recover soon.

So what more to enjoy dinner with this very own beverage: King fisher STRONG.

First dinner for the student in Rourkela: Mayfair

And I think all of them enjoy it more than we enjoy it last time.

Tandoori Chicken, the best food you can have with the combination of beer. Right maa?

Lord Ganesha in STEEL

Went praying that day, on my previous post, I have wrote on Ganesh Puja and it's been all over India since 1 sep 2011. I got to pray on this Ganesh. What so special about it? Instead of those normal clay ganesh, this Lord ganesh is make of Steel, it's so magnificent when you look up close and pray to him.

Even though it's raining, but it doesn't stop me from visiting LORD GANESHA.

Had a few bit of snack there, especially with the Sweet Golgapa, even though it's not recommended to have it, but I guess I'm so use to it that I have no problem eating it, of course, I'm a Indian in a chinese body isn't it?

Rain just keep coming

Raining Season in Rourkela, rain can continuously coming for twenty-four hours. It seems weather is abit out of pattern and it has hit us globally.

I still remember last year when we were here, rain is not that often or familiar to us.

Rain just makes things difficult for us esecially on the bike, we will have problem travelling around rourkela.

Three more days to the arrival of the students here in India, I just wonder how it will be, with the juniors here, will they able to adapt to the enviroment without complain? Will they able to bring themselves out of the comfort zone?

TT (Table Tennis)

I still remember I use to play this sport when I was in my secondary school life which was around my 7th grade. I didn't play as good as my maa, but I try to engage in this particular sport, and it seems nice when you actually score with your strategy mind.

Until when I graduate from school, I stopped playing.

Recently, when I went back to NITRKL, some friends asked me to play and i engage on the game, at first I was so not use to holding, batting, hitting, strategizing the game. But after a few round of practice, the hitting slowly came back to me. Like I said, I'm not good, but still survivable?

You must be thinking, isn't this like a china game or something? Well, sports doesn't differentiate country does it? And I can tell you, they do play better than anyone of you.

It's time to sweat it all out with Ashesh, Babu, and Nikil.

Ganesh Puja

Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is the Hindu festival of Ganesha also called Vinayagar in Tamil Nadu, te son of Shiva and Parvati, who is believe to bestow his presence on earth for all his devotees in the duration of this festival. It is the day Shiva declared his elder son Ganesha as superior to all the gods.

Ganesha is widely worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortne and traditionally invoked at the beginning of any new venture or at the start of travel.

The festival is obeserved in the Hindu Calendar month of Bhaadrapada, starting on the Shukla chaturthi (Fourth day of the waxing moon period). The date usually falls between 20 Aug and 15 sept. The festival lasts for 10 days, ending on Anant Chaturdashi (fourteenth day of the waxing moon period).

While celebrated all over India, it is mostelaborate in western and southern India. Outside India, it is celebrated widely in Nepal and by Hindus in the United States, Canada, Singapore and Fiji.

In India

Two to three months prior to Ganesh Puja, artistic clay models of Lord Ganesha are made for sale by specially skilled artisans. They are beautifully decorated & depict Lord Ganesh in various poses. The size of these statues may vary from 3/4 of an inch to over 25 feet.

Ganesh Puja starts with the installation of these Ganesh statues in colorfully decorated homes and specially erected temporary structures pandals in every locality. The pandals are erected by the people or a specific society or locality or group by collecting monetary contributions. The pandals are decorated specially for the festival, either by using decorative items like flower garlands, lights, etc or are theme based decorations, which depict religious themes or current events.

The priest, usually clad in red silk dhoti and shawl, then symbolically invokes life into the statue by chating mantras. This ritual is the Pranapratishhtha. After this the ritual called as Shhodashopachara (16 ways of paying tribute) follows. Coconut, Jaggery, 21 modakas, 21 durva (trefoil) blades of grass and red flowers are offered. The statue is anointed with red unguent, typically made of Kumkum & Sandalwood paste. Througout the ceremony, Vedic humns from the Rig Veda, the Ganapati Atharva Shirsha Upanishad and the Ganesh stortra from the Narada Purana are chanted.

Muslims across the country ended their Ramadan fast on Wednesday and began the festivities to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. "On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, it is my immense pleasure in offering Eid Mubarak to all our people in India and abroad," President Pratibha Patil said in a message.

Inner Peace

Didnt know Rourkela has such nice beautiful pond, this pond is located near my house. Went pass it two times, the first time was during evening, in the evening, we cant see this beautiful pond as it's totally in darkness and it looks abit scary, when I come to think there's crocodile inside, silly me.

But the second time when I pass by this pond, I was like: "Oh my" why would I think there's crocodiles inside?

Crap~

It's so beautiful isn't it? the calmness from the still water, and the greenery all around it, it's a nice place to jog by in the morning. And most importantly, I can felt inner peace even by looking at the photo.

Today is monday, I been to India for 5 days since, and I'm totally settled down, it's time to start work. First I will work on my education research. Maybe I could get from two side perspective with the engineers oh sorry i mean pre-engineers because they haven't graduate and the pre-B-Commerce.

Stars gazing in Progress

Remove the street lights, refrain from turning on the torch light, silence took over the street, and as you look up the skies, you see small shining bright stars glaring down at you. It's not what you can see in Singapore, at least down my street what I see up on the skies was the satallies.

The environment is not dark, you can still feel your way as you walk, guess the brightness from the stars guided the way.

you know, looking up the skies and seeing the stars there, you have this moment of happiness, i can stare at them whole night and not feel sick of it. The calmness I gotten from the stars just make my mind to work. Thinking things I would never have come out with, thinking of ideas or ways to communicate like never before, guess that's the power of the stars.

In India, you can see them everywhere and the most beautiful time to look up the skies is when the power is cut, you will have a different way of viewing them.

Power cut in Rourkela

I guess not everyone in Singapore has this experience or I can say this experience a few times in a day? Which is power cut. Power cut in Rourkela is very often especially during summer, during summer power cut will be purposely make for a few hours or power is being cut off because of overheated generator, or many other reasons.

So there's a joke that says: Rourkela is the best romantic places because people eat candle light dinner every day.

Putting friends and meeting brothers aside, the happiest moment in rourkela will be when the power is back, especially in the big room now, power cut means it's complete dark for me and with me, me, and me, it's abit scary yaar?

This afternoon, there's a powercut, when in the afternoon, it's fine because light are still outside, when it's cut during the night, imagine it, i mean if i'm in the hostel, it's fine because friends are there and the space are small, the place i'm staying now is big, spacious and alone so not a pleasant experience.

I don't get powercut in Singapore, but when I come to India, it's the power cut that I enjoy most, because it makes me not take things for granted, and it's the power cut that touches my heart.

Imagine in Singapore when we have the lights and electricity and yet we can't do well in our studies, but in India, people have to study for exams in candle light and they have no complains at all and not to say, they strive well in their studies, it's this passion that we have to learn from the Indians, never complain for the sake of complaining and never say you cant do it until the last moment when you get your results, even you fail you can say, you try your best.

First night in Rourkela

What you see here is my room, half of the room, it's too big to take the whole room, my room is located at level 1 with a front office when i come in, a meeting/rest room at the right side of the gate, a office infront of my room, and here is my room, all the way in. The room is a size of a small classroom with only a bed inside. And of course with all the curtains, but when I switch off the light, it will be in totally darkness and with the space around me, it's a little scary.

First night in the room was not good for me, because the floor was dirty, unclean and you know how I like it to be clean, so I use a rag clothes and start cleaning walking areas, and reluctantly I went to bath. After bathing, i feel refresh, i set up my computer and started playing movie (Step up 3), and reluctantly i went to switch off the light.

No matter how reluctant I am, I still have to stay in this environment for 2 weeks, so I told myself I got to get use to this room, so i slept with my lap top re-playing Step up 3 for 7-8 times with the lights off.

My first night just went past like that.

Journey to Rourkela

Still remember this bridge? This bridge is actually build by the british when they are here and when they left, it's still there.

I passby this bridge yesterday, it's a must to passby this bridge when we are going to take the train to Rourkela. The train station is at the other side of the bridge.

It took me RS 200 to take the taxi to the station.

The train starts at 1350pm, i left my friend's house at 11.30pm and reach the train station at 1pm because of the jam here and there. So when I reach the station abt 1 and a half hour, and when I reach the station, i start to find stall to buy water, because it's a must for me when I board the train, but here comes the problem, I don't have any small notes, all I have is RS500 or RS1000 so this gave me a hard time in finding a stall that have change as one bottle of mineral is RS12. So i took around 15 mins finding a stall to change money, and finally I found it.

So boarded the train at 1330pm and the train leave the station at 1350pm.

The journey took me 6 hours before i touch down on Rourkela.

Met with my classmate at around 5pm in the airport, had our Brunch (Breakfast+Lunch) at Fish and Co, after which my maa came with my god-father follow by Terence (Overall In charge for Overseas Internship) and Willey Tang (Supervisor for my Internship in India).

I would like to thank my maa for giving me the chance to explore India despite you know, me always going overseas and not spending quality time with her, I know she will understand it.

I would like to thank my friends that came to send me off, classmate like Lim Han, Benjamin Wee, priscilla, thanks for coming down, and sure, I'm starting to miss you guys, it's always the case, when we spend time with each other we tend to take each other for granted, only till when we are apart, then we feel the importance of cherish.

I would like to thank Terence Choo, for his tolerance in me, especially this India Internship is the first time in his life, so it's kind of hectic with lots of procedure, nevertheless, we make it happen don't we? I will promise to make it the best ever internship in ICT.

Hindi Movies

It's been a year since I have started to learn Hindi, I must say, I improve abit in terms of understanding, I may not fully understand but still I understand bits and pieces. And I must say Hindi movie is my favourite and I really don't mind catching it in the movie theater.

This was taken on my latest trip to Rourkela for a two weeks holiday, I was going to catch 'Double Dhalmaal' with two friends however, the place was so full and we are reluctant to buy black ticket, so we drop the idea of watching the movie.

You must be asking, did I watch the movie Double Dhalmaal? Yea, I did watch that movie and it's funny too, something like Golmaal, but abit different in another sense.

Girls' Hall Day

I still remember the trip I went on Feburary, I was invited to the Girls' hall day. Hall day means the b'day of the hostel. I think no one from Singapore has ever enter the girls' hall right? I'm the first one! I felt so honored!

The moment I went in, everyone was saying 'Hi' to me, and goodness, I don't even know them, but they know me! It's like there's a saying:

Do you know your country's prime minister?
Ans: Yes
Do your country's prime minister know you?
Ans: No

My situation is totally like the Prime Minister, everyone knows him but he doesn't know everyone.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed myself by the great party, especially the dance: 'Dabanng'

My Families in India

Second time back in India, I must say I miss this country, actually I must say I miss my country, I have treated this country as my own. It's a big decision to come back again, to visit this flavor country.

First virgin trip, from planning which airline to take, which place to stay, which place to visit, what train to take, where to meet, all this were plan by me. I must say it's very tedious planning and everything makes me so worried from Visa to booking of air ticket to booking of train ticket, i know planning is useless when come to India however, I still wish to plan, without planning I feel that I'm handicap in someway.

From choosing which airline and comparing the price was a tedious job but still I manage to do it with saving of $200 i flown to India, Kolkata alone.

Arranging someone to pick me up in Kolkata, I have Nikhil's friend, Saket to pick me up in Kolkata, it feels weird because it's the first time I met him, but you know sometimes, you need to make the initiative so people will be approachable towards you, so I make the initiative to stay with him in his house and I manage to make friends with all the people he stay with. And we became family.

Like in NITRKL, I too have my family there, like Ankur Bhai, Keshav Bada bhai, Rahul Bhai, Pradeep Bhai, Abdullah Bhai, I really miss all of you. I wonder when will we meet again?

Sun Temple @ Bhubaneswar

It's the first trip that let me get in touch with such good people and slowly we became brothers. This was another trip to bhubaneswar, capital city of Orissa State and I must say we enjoy ourself with the food, the language, the culture and the 100 over years heritage site like the Sun temple we went.

India Immersion Programme 2010

21 August 2011, I still have 4 more days to go before my departure off to India for my Internship, time do flies fast. I still remember during Sep 2010, I came with a group of 24 students to India for India Immersion Programme and from that day onward I have fall in love with this full flavor country. I admit that I was a little worried, worried about how things will go when I go, but my heart tells me everything will be fine, so I step on the journey to India.

That day, when we arrive in India Kolkata airport, we were so hungry due to the timing of the flight, I still remember that Rajesh gave us a treat in a mall, pizza hut. We were all so fascinated by the price, this is all our first time to India and having food in the mall is our first in touch with India. Pizza hut may be familiar with us but the food choice is so different from Singapore, but to me, it's better than Singapore.

If memories never fail me, our train ride to Rourkela was during midnight so we actually stand around the train station for a few hours waiting for our train and I must say, i felt so unsafe, so insecurity because there was so many beggers around, everyone is looking at us as foreigners and may rob us, that's how I felt during that time and I must say, the train ride is so tiring at least for me, usual train ride takes 6 hours but for some reasons, our train ride took 10 hours which was not a good experience for us, for me at least.

Let's hope that the train ride for my coming trip will reach on time.
